Coastal Vibes Norfolk

The coastal vibes of Norfolk

Great Britain’s coastline is approximately 18,000km long, and the country is full of amazing beaches. From white sandy beaches and turquoise sea, to dramatic and rocky bays you find amazing scenery. Coastal vibes are everywhere along the coast, one would think. But is that true?

When it comes to seaside holidays in Britain, most people think of Cornwall. Indeed, the ancient Celtic land, with its heritage and amazing beaches, has fantastic coastal vibes.

Photography Tips Norfolk

The coastal vibes of Norfolk

Although Norfolk, the fourth biggest county in England, equally has coastal vibes, I must admit they are very different. It doesn’t mean Norfolk is not good enough. On the contrary. I think you just have to discover Norfolk and its unique coastal vibes for yourself.

This county has a lot to offer: from sandy beaches to seaside towns, from windmills to dutch gabled cottages and seals. Once you have a gentle stroll in the seaside villages, I’m sure you’ll feel it.

As a photographer, I love exploring fishing villages and pay attention to details. Whether it’s a window decoration or an old smokehouse or a pretty street, it doesn’t really matter. I also loved taking photos in the soft lights during sunset, for which, of course, I had to wait longer in the summer. But it’s definitely worth it, as the windmills and the beaches really show their beauty in soft lights.

Although the sun was harsh, I enjoyed photographing the seals at Blakeney Point. This, of course, required different camera settings as the seals were moving. Using a higher shutter speed and shooting in continuous mode, I got them.

Photography trips for capturing the coastal vibes of Norfolk:

  • Do the one hour seal trip to Blakeney Point by one of the four providers who depart from Morston Quay to Blakeney Point. Booking in advance is highly recommended. Don’t forget to check the tide to avoid disappointment.
  • Visit the most beautiful beaches in North Norfolk – preferably at sunrise: Wells-next-Sea, Cley-next-Sea, Burnham Overy, Holkham Beach, Sheringham, Hunstanton, Brancaster and Heacham.
  • Explore seaside towns and villages to capture coastal vibes and details: Cromer, Sheringham, Hunstanton, Burnham Overy, Cley-next-Sea, Blakeney.
